It was decided to formulate following commissions to discuss and address the pertinent issue in their representative fields:
- Geosciences Education
- Climate and Global Changes
- Mineral and Energy Resources
- Mountain Dynomics
- Marine Geosciences
- Water Resources
- Geohazards
The scope of these Commissions is to initiate collective discussions bring in various associations and the interested scientific community 10 assess the present status, envisage the future requirements and design an action plan to address them using a scientific approach. These commissions would be organizing a number of events including seminars, symposia and workshops with the involvement and support of member geosciences organization and would disseminate the outcome for the attention of the scientific community as well as the conceded Government agencies. The commissions also would be looking at developing major scientific initiatives to address the contemporary needs of geosciences in the country as a whole.
